What Is Hospice Care?

    Insurance & Coverage

    Who Pays for Hospice Care?

Hospice is covered by Medicare or Medicaid when:
    1. Two physicians, the patient’s primary MD and one of our Medical Directors, certify a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less
    2. The patient chooses comfort‑focused care over curative treatment
    3. A signed statement redirects care to hospice services

Once enrolled, all care related to the terminal illness is covered. Patients retain the right to change their minds and resume treatments.

Castle Hospice staff can assist in navigating insurance questions and paperwork.
